Your forage guide
Forage is the foundation of a horse’s diet. Purina’s pelleted formulas give you another way to meet forage needs alongside the rest of your feeding program, with options for different ages, activity levels and body conditions.
When grazing is scarce or pasture quality drops, pelleted forage offers a consistent option for adding roughage.
Soaked pellets become a soft mash, offering an option for horses with dental concerns or difficulty chewing long-stem forage.
Choose a forage blend to support your horse’s needs, from gastric comfort to fiber for hindgut health.
Each formula has stated starch and sugar limits, making it easier to compare options within a carefully managed ration.
Across all three formulas
Purina’s pellet technology is designed to soften quickly in water. Soaking makes a soft, easy-to-chew mash and adds water to the meal to support hydration.
The combined maximums are 10% for Alfalfa Gastric Support, 9% for Timothy-Teff and 12% for Beet Pulp Plus. See the comparison below for the individual guarantees.
Every formula provides 250 IU per pound of natural vitamin E. Purina includes it for antioxidant and immune support.
All three are formulated without grain, molasses or binders. Purina also describes all three as “picky eater approved”; individual preferences vary.

From bag to bucket
Count hay, pasture and pelleted forage together. Purina’s general guideline is 1.2–2.5% of body weight in total forage daily. The right amount depends on your horse and the rest of the ration.
An example from Purina’s guide—not an amount of pellets to add on top of hay or pasture. Adjust the feeding plan for your horse’s needs.
Include long-stem forage as appropriate and follow the feeding directions for the chosen formula.
