Some horses — whether through an efficient metabolism, a light workload, or a high-quality forage-based diet — hold their weight on hay or pasture with little or no feed. Purina® Enrich Plus® Senior Ration Balancing Horse Feed is a concentrated, pelleted ration balancer that can be fed as a horse’s sole ration alongside quality hay or pasture, supplying the proper balance of nutrients without unnecessary calories. Guaranteed 32% protein with 2.70% lysine, and just 3% maximum dietary starch.

It adds three Purina technologies for the aging horse: ActivAge® patented prebiotic technology for immune function, mobility and metabolism; Outlast® gastric support — a 1 lb meal supplies a full serving; and Easy-Soak™ pellet technology, which softens into an easy-to-chew mash in minutes with added water. Feed Purina® Enrich Plus® Senior as the horse’s sole ration alongside quality hay or pasture. It is a ration balancer, not a full feed — it supplies protein, vitamins and minerals in a small daily amount, without the calories of a complete feed.

Daily feeding rates for a 1,000 lb mature horse:

Maintenance: 1.0 lb per day, with a minimum 20 lb hay or pasture
Light work: 1.5 – 2.5 lb per day, with a minimum 20 lb hay or pasture
Moderate work: 1.5 – 2.5 lb per day, with a minimum 20 lb hay or pasture
Mares through 2nd trimester: 1.0 – 2.0 lb per day, with a minimum 20 lb hay or pasture

A 1 lb meal of Enrich Plus® Senior supplies a full serving of Outlast® supplement.

Horses in heavier work, and breeding or lactating mares needing extra calories, require additional supplementation. Water may be added to create a soft mash for horses with worn teeth. Change feeds gradually over 7–10 days and always provide fresh, clean water.
