Espoma Organic Perlite is a lightweight, 100% natural volcanic mineral that loosens heavy soils and potting mixes, creating pore space so air and water can move freely through the root zone. It's a simple, chemical-free way to improve drainage and prevent compaction in container and garden soil.

Perlite is also handy for starting seeds, rooting cuttings, and storing bulbs, and it is approved for organic gardening.

  • Potting soil: mix 1 part Perlite to 1 part soil to lighten heavy mixes.
  • Custom potting blend: combine 2 parts peat moss, 1 part compost, and 1 part Perlite.
  • Seed starting: use straight peat moss or an 80% peat / 20% Perlite blend; moisten and let drain before sowing.
  • Root cuttings: insert into moist peat moss or a peat/Perlite blend, out of direct sun.
  • Bulb storage: pour dry Perlite over bulbs without watering or compacting.
