Espoma Organic Peat Moss is a premium horticultural-grade Sphagnum moss — a dark, fibrous material that retains moisture while promoting drainage without becoming compacted.

It's the ideal base for custom potting mixes and works equally well for improving heavy garden soils, starting seeds, and rooting cuttings.

Key Benefits

  • 100% all-natural Sphagnum peat moss with no additives, approved for organic gardening
  • Improves heavy, compacted soils and prevents compaction
  • Ideal base for custom potting mixes, seed starting, and root cuttings
  • Helps retain moisture and aerates soil to promote root growth

Directions for Use

  • Potting soil: mix 1 part soil to 1 part Peat Moss to improve heavy soil, or blend 2 parts Peat Moss with 1 part compost and 1 part perlite/vermiculite for a custom mix
  • Seed starting: fill a container with Peat Moss (or an 80/20 Peat/perlite or vermiculite blend), moisten, and plant seeds per package directions; keep moist until first true leaves appear
  • Root cuttings: use the same seed-starting blend, make a hole, insert the cutting, and keep moist out of direct sun until roots develop
  • Bulb storage: pour dry Peat Moss over and around bulbs; do not water or compact

Net weight: 5.9 lb per 8 qt bag.
