• Choose a partially shaded, level site at least 4 ft x 4 ft
• Build an initial waste layer (twigs/branches for air circulation), 6-12 in. deep
• Add 1 cup of Compost Starter per 16 sq ft of layer area and moisten evenly (do not soak)
• Repeat with additional waste layers, Compost Starter, and moisture; turn the pile weekly to let air penetrate the center
• Shredding waste speeds the process; avoid composting meat scraps; if a foul odor develops, turn the pile more often
