Bio-tone Starter Plus is Espoma's ultimate starter plant food — a rich blend of natural & organic ingredients enhanced with beneficial microbes, humates, and both endo and ecto mycorrhizae. Because it's mixed directly into the planting hole, it puts nutrients and microbes in direct contact with the roots, helping new plantings establish quickly with less transplant shock.

Formulated for difficult soil conditions and approved for organic gardening, Bio-tone Starter Plus is designed for everything you plant — flowers, vegetables, trees, and shrubs.

Flower Beds: Mix 4 lbs. (12 cups) per 100 sq ft into the top 4-6 inches of soil.
Bulbs: Place 1 tsp. per bulb in the hole prior to planting.
Potting Mixes: Mix 9 lbs. per cubic yard, or 1 cup per cubic ft.
New Lawns (seed or sod): Apply 25 lbs. per 1,000 sq ft prior to seeding or installing sod.
Planting Trees & Shrubs (mix thoroughly with backfill soil): up to 1 gallon plant — 1 cup (1/3 lb); 2 gallons — 2 cups (2/3 lb); 15 gallons — 4 cups (1-1/3 lb); 24" root ball — 6 cups (2 lb); 36" root ball — 24 cups (8 lb); 48" root ball — 30 cups (10 lb).
