CapShield Maxx is a once-a-month oral flea supplement for dogs weighing 46 to 90 lb — the L size, labeled “Medium and Large Dogs” on the bottle. Each bottle holds 6 beef-flavored tablets — one dose a month.

CapShield Maxx pairs two actives in one beef-flavored tablet. Nitenpyram starts working within about 30 minutes on the adult fleas already on your dog, then clears the bloodstream within 24 hours. Lufenuron is an insect growth regulator that stays in the bloodstream for roughly 30 days — after the first day, any new flea that bites can no longer reproduce. That is what breaks the flea life cycle, rather than only killing the fleas you can see today.

Active ingredients per tablet (L, 46-90 lb)

  • Nitenpyram 56 mg
  • Lufenuron 409 mg
  • 6 tablets per bottle

Benefits

  • Fast-acting relief — nitenpyram starts to work within 30 minutes to help control fleas on your dog.
  • Breaks the life cycle — after the first day, any new flea that bites your dog will not fully reproduce.
  • About 30 days of IGR coverage — lufenuron stays in the bloodstream for roughly 30 days per dose.
  • Easy to give — beef-flavored, and scored for precise dosing.
  • Color-coded by weight band — takes the guesswork out of dosing a multi-dog household.

How to use

  • Give one tablet orally once a month, with food for best absorption.
  • Match the tablet to your dog's current weight.
  • For dogs and puppies 8 weeks of age or older, weighing at least 2 lb.
  • Give once monthly as needed, or every month for continued prevention.

Why you may still see fleas after dosing: nitenpyram has no residual effect after 24 hours, and most of a flea population lives in the environment as eggs and larvae. New fleas can still jump on from carpet or bedding — but once they feed, lufenuron stops them reproducing. Consistent monthly dosing, plus treating the home if the infestation is established, is what clears it over time.

Cautions

  • Do not give to dogs under 8 weeks of age or under 2 lb.
  • Do not use the dog formula on cats — the feline formula is dosed differently.
  • Safety has not been tested in breeding animals or pregnant females.
  • Consult your veterinarian before starting a flea treatment, especially if your dog is on other medications.
  • For use in animals only. Store in a cool, dry place, out of reach of children and animals.
