Standlee Flock Fresh Bedding, 2 cu ft

Standlee Premium Products Flock Fresh is an excellent choice for all-natural, absorbent, and biodegradable bedding for chickens and other poultry. Flock Fresh is made by chopping wheat or barley straw into approximately 4’ pieces and blending it with zeolite and alfalfa leaves. Scientifically, formulated, Flock Fresh creates a comfortable and dry roosting area while reducing ammonia odors.

Ingredients

Barley Straw (Chopped) or Wheat Straw (Chopped), Clinoptilolite (Zeolite) Granules, Alfalfa Hay Sun-Cured (Chopped).

Flock Fresh is intended as a bedding product or for composting purposes, and not as a source of nutrition.

How to use it

Spread a layer of bedding in the common coop roosting areas at a 4–6 inch depth for best results. Clean out soiled bedding and reapply as needed. One bag typically covers about 32 square feet at a 4-inch layer. Discard soiled bedding in the compost pile or the trash.

Reuse soiled Flock Fresh to improve soil quality — the zeolite granules and nutrients from chicken waste enrich compost and can go straight onto garden and flower beds.

Good to know

If your chickens eat the straw, remove the bedding. Standlee advises that birds consuming large amounts of straw run a higher risk of crop impaction, which can be fatal.

Barley or wheat seeds may be present and can germinate if the bedding is used in garden beds.

Stored properly — covered, cool and well ventilated, out of the weather — Flock Fresh keeps for well over a year. Straw is a natural agricultural product; sort and remove any foreign material before use.
