• Roses: apply 1 cup per plant in early spring; repeat when blooms appear (use 1/3 rate for miniature roses).
• Vegetable & flower beds: before planting, apply 5 lb. per 100 sq ft into the top 4 inches of soil; for established plants, apply 1/2 to 1 cup per plant.
• Fertilizer tea: steep 2 cups in 5 gallons of water, covered, for 4-5 days, stirring daily; apply 1 gallon of tea per plant (1/3 gallon for minis).
• Shrubs: apply 1 cup per foot of branch spread in spring; repeat at half rate in late fall.
• Trees: apply 1 lb. per inch of trunk diameter around the drip line.
