Triple Crown Senior® is a complete and balanced feed formulated to support the nutritional needs of senior horses while also being suitable for horses that require an easily digestible diet. Feeding amounts should be based on your horse’s body weight, activity level, metabolism, and overall condition. Monitor your horse regularly and adjust feeding rates as necessary to maintain proper body condition and weight.
When horses are consuming hay or pasture along with Triple Crown Senior, the feed should be provided as a supplement to a forage-based diet. A 600-pound horse typically requires approximately 4 to 5 pounds of Triple Crown® Senior per day while also consuming about 9 to 12 pounds of forage daily.
A 900-pound horse generally requires 5 to 10 pounds of Triple Crown Senior each day, along with approximately 13.5 to 18 pounds of hay or pasture. For an 1,100-pound horse, the recommended feeding range is about 6 to 12 pounds of Triple Crown® Senior daily, together with 16.5 to 22 pounds of forage.
Larger horses weighing around 1,300 pounds may require 7 to 14 pounds of Triple Crown® Senior per day, while consuming approximately 19.5 to 26 pounds of hay or pasture to support proper digestion and fiber intake.
These feeding recommendations represent average daily requirements. Individual horses may need more or less feed depending on factors such as age, workload, metabolism, weather conditions, and forage quality. Adjust the amount of Triple Crown Senior as needed to maintain ideal body condition. If you feed less than the recommended amount of Triple Crown Senior per day, it is recommended to supplement the diet with Triple Crown® Balancer, Balancer Gold, or Diamond Balancer to ensure adequate vitamin and mineral intake.
Triple Crown® Senior can also be fed as a complete diet for horses that are unable to consume hay or pasture due to dental problems or other health concerns.
For horses receiving no forage, a 600-pound horse generally requires approximately 7.5 to 9.5 pounds of Triple Crown Senior per day. A 900-pound horse typically requires 10.5 to 14.5 pounds daily, while an 1,100-pound horse usually needs about 13.5 to 17.5 pounds per day.
For larger horses weighing around 1,300 pounds, the recommended feeding range is approximately 16.5 to 20.5 pounds per day when Triple Crown® Senior is used as the primary or sole feed source.
When feeding larger amounts, divide the total daily feed into multiple meals. Do not feed more than 0.5% of the horse’s body weight in Triple Crown® Senior in a single meal, and if feeding this maximum amount, allow 3 to 4 hours between meals to support proper digestion.
Triple Crown® Senior can easily be turned into an EZ Mash by adding water. This can be particularly beneficial for horses with poor teeth, respiratory issues, or those prone to choking. To prepare a mash, add water approximately 10 to 15 minutes before feeding, adjusting the amount of water to reach the consistency preferred by the individual horse.
Always provide horses with free-choice salt and unlimited access to fresh, clean water. Store the product in a cool, dry location to maintain freshness and nutritional quality. Check the feed daily before use and do not feed if the product is old, moldy, or contaminated with insects, as this may harm the animal.
Follow label directions carefully. This product contains added copper and should not be fed to sheep.
