Feed Purina® Ultium® Competition Horse Formula together with good-quality hay or pasture to ensure horses receive balanced nutrition and optimal digestive support. Begin with the feeding amounts listed below based on your horse’s weight and work level, then adjust gradually as needed to maintain ideal body condition. Do not feed free-choice; divide the total daily feed into two or more meals per day. Always provide fresh, clean water and free-choice salt.

Daily Feeding Guidelines (lbs per day):

Weight of Horse — Light Work / Moderate Work / Heavy Work

• 800 lb: 3.5 – 5.0 – 6.25
  
• 1,000 lb: 4.5 – 6.0 – 7.75
  
• 1,200 lb: 5.5 – 7.25 – 9.25
  
• 1,400 lb: 6.25 – 8.50 – 10.75
  

Minimum recommended hay or equivalent pasture should be fed daily (e.g., ~9.5 lb for an 800 lb horse, ~17 lb for a 1,400 lb horse). If feeding more hay, Ultium® Competition feed rates may be reduced to maintain proper condition. To meet nutrient requirements, do not feed less than 0.3 lb per 100 lb of body weight per day for mature horses at maintenance. Adjust feed rates gradually and consult your Purina retailer or veterinarian for customized feeding plans.

NOTE: Feeding rates of Ultium®Competition Horse Formula and forage may be adjusted or feed may be top-dressed with Purina®Amplify®High-Fat Supplement for additional calories. Hard-working horses may also benefit from supplementation with Purina®Supersport®Amino Acid Supplement.

A 4-pound meal of Ultium®Competition Horse Formula supplies a full serving of Outlast®Supplement.

Caution

Follow label directions. Feeding added selenium at levels in excess of 0.3 ppm in the total diet is prohibited.

Important

1. Feeding rates will vary with size, age, temperament, health status, forage quality, climate and activity level. Feed at regular times, at least twice daily. Do not feed more than 0.5 lbs/100 lbs of body weight per meal. Do not feed free-choice. Prevent rapid eating by the horse of any feedstuff.
2. Reduce and/or delay feeding a horse which is hot, excited or showing pain, has fever or diarrhea. Consult your veterinarian if any problems arise.
3. Always feed a minimum of 1.0 to 1.2 lbs per 100 lbs of body weight of good quality clean hay or the equivalent in pasture.
4. Any feed changes should be made gradually over a period of 7 to 10 days. Changes in the rate of feeding should not exceed 1.0 lb per day for each horse.
5. Provide fresh, clean water at all times. Provide your horse with access to salt. Consult with your veterinarian regularly and maintain a routine dental, parasite control and health care program for your horse.
