Impact® Professional Performance Horse Feed is formulated to support performance horses in varying levels of work. Begin feeding according to your horse’s body weight and workload category. These recommendations are based on average daily nutrient requirements and should be used as a starting point. Individual metabolism, temperament, forage quality, climate, and activity level may affect actual needs, so feeding rates may need to be gradually adjusted to maintain ideal body condition.

Always provide a minimum amount of good-quality hay or equivalent pasture daily. Horses weighing 600 lbs should receive at least 7.0 lbs of forage per day. Horses weighing 800 lbs require 9.5 lbs, 1,000-lb horses need 12.0 lbs, 1,200-lb horses require 14.5 lbs, and 1,400-lb horses should receive 17.0 lbs per day.

If feeding more hay than the recommended minimum, reduce the amount of Impact® Professional Performance Horse Feed by 1 pound for every additional 2 pounds of hay provided.

Performance Feeding Levels

For horses in light work, feed approximately:

• 3.5 lbs per day for a 600-lb horse
  
• 4.5 lbs per day for an 800-lb horse
  
• 5.75 lbs per day for a 1,000-lb horse
  
• 6.75 lbs per day for a 1,200-lb horse
  
• 7.75 lbs per day for a 1,400-lb horse
  

For horses in moderate work, feeding rates increase to approximately:

• 4.75 to 10.75 lbs per day depending on body weight
  

For heavy work, feed approximately:

• 6.0 lbs daily for a 600-lb horse up to 13.5 lbs daily for a 1,400-lb horse
  

For horses in very heavy work or intense training, higher energy intake is required, ranging from:

• 8.75 lbs daily for a 600-lb horse up to 20.25 lbs daily for a 1,400-lb horse
  

Adjust intake gradually to maintain optimal muscle condition, stamina, and overall health.

Minimum Feeding Requirement

To meet nutrient requirements, do not feed less than 0.4 lbs per 100 lbs of body weight per day. If your horse gains excessive weight at this minimum feeding level, transition to Purina® Strategy® Healthy Edge® Horse Feed or Purina® Enrich Plus® Ration Balancing Feed to provide balanced nutrition with controlled calorie intake.

Feeding Management Guidelines

Feed at consistent times each day and divide the total daily ration into at least two meals, with three smaller feedings preferred for performance horses. Always provide fresh, clean water and free-choice salt. Monitor body condition regularly and adjust feeding rates gradually as needed. Sudden increases or decreases in feed should be avoided.

Storage and Caution

Store feed in a dry, well-ventilated area protected from rodents and insects. Do not feed moldy or insect-infested feed, as it may cause illness, performance loss, or death. Use only as directed.
