Start by feeding the recommended amount of Ultium® Growth Horse Formula based on your horse’s weight and life stage. After observing body condition and growth over time, adjust the feeding rate gradually to maintain ideal weight and condition. For feeding programs outside the ranges listed below, contact your local Purina retailer or Purina Customer Service at 800-227-8941.

Feed at regular times, at least twice daily. Do not feed free-choice. Divide total daily feed into multiple meals and do not feed more than 0.5 lbs per 100 lbs of body weight per meal. Prevent rapid consumption. Any feed changes should be made gradually over 7–10 days, and daily adjustments should not exceed 1.0 lb per horse per day.

Always provide fresh, clean water and free-choice salt. Maintain a minimum of 1.0–1.2 lbs of good-quality hay per 100 lbs of body weight daily, unless otherwise directed below.

Broodmares

Minimum Hay or Equivalent Pasture (per day):

• 800 lb horse: 9.5 lbs
  
• 1,000 lb horse: 12.0 lbs
  
• 1,200 lb horse: 14.5 lbs
  
• 1,400 lb horse: 17.0 lbs
  

If feeding more hay than the minimum, you may reduce Ultium® Growth to maintain proper body condition.

Ultium® Growth Feeding Rates (lbs per day):

Gestating Mares (Last 90 Days):

• 800 lb: 4.25 lbs
  
• 1,000 lb: 5.25 lbs
  
• 1,200 lb: 6.0 lbs
  
• 1,400 lb: 7.0 lbs
  

Lactating Mares:

• 800 lb: 6.0 lbs
  
• 1,000 lb: 7.5 lbs
  
• 1,200 lb: 9.0 lbs
  
• 1,400 lb: 10.5 lbs
  

Lactating mares require a minimum of 2 lbs of hay per 100 lbs body weight daily (20 lbs per 1,000 lb horse).

To meet nutrient requirements:

• Do not feed less than 0.35 lbs per 100 lbs body weight per day for gestating mares.
  
• Do not feed less than 0.50 lbs per 100 lbs body weight per day for lactating mares.
  

If weight gain occurs at minimum feeding rates, transition to Purina® Enrich Plus® Ration Balancing Feed.

Growing Horses (Weanlings, Yearlings & Two-Year-Olds)

Use the lower end of the range for moderate growth and the higher end to support more rapid growth.

To meet nutrient requirements, do not feed less than 0.75 lbs per 100 lbs body weight per day for growing horses (3.75 lbs per 500 lb horse).

Suckling Foals

Begin offering Ultium® Growth within two weeks of birth. Feed 1.0 lb per month of age per day.

Additional Feeding Notes

• 
  A 4-lb meal supplies a full serving of Outlast® Supplement.
  
• Feeding rates may be adjusted based on forage quality, growth goals, climate, temperament, and health status.
  
• Feed may be top-dressed with Purina® Amplify® High-Fat Supplement if additional calories are needed.
  
• 
  Reduce or delay feeding if the horse is hot, stressed, ill, or showing signs of fever or diarrhea.
  

Consult your veterinarian regularly and maintain routine dental, parasite control, and health programs.

Caution

Follow label directions. Feeding added selenium resulting in total dietary selenium levels exceeding 0.3 ppm is prohibited.
